Top contributor Jürgen Na won the DVOW contest for this spectacular drone video from the Mangystau region of Kazakhstan in Central Asia. Mangystau is in the southwestern part of the country, and includes much of the country's Caspian Sea coastline. The area shown in the video is inland Mangystau, a vast area of tens of thousands of square miles and only a few thousand inhabitants. As you'll see in the video, it's covered with giant rock formations that tower above the desert floor. The video was filmed in part with an FPV drone.

Description: MANGYSTAU – Flying Over an Ancient Ocean Millions of years ago, this extraordinary landscape lay beneath an ancient ocean. Today, the Mangystau region of Kazakhstan feels like another planet — a vast world of towering limestone formations, endless deserts, deep canyons and surreal landscapes shaped by time. We traveled through this remote corner of Central Asia with our drones, searching for perspectives that reveal the true scale and beauty of Mangystau. From the air, the traces of its prehistoric past become visible: ancient seabeds, dramatic cliffs and strange formations stretching toward the horizon. This film is our journey above one of the most fascinating landscapes we have ever experienced. Filmed entirely in the Mangystau Region, Kazakhstan.
