The abandoned Buzludzha Monument , Bulgaria

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :

One of the most well-recognized sites in Bulgaria is actually a long-abandoned monument to its Communist past.  Seen in this drone video by giannis_bek1, the Buzludzha Monument sits atop its namesake peak in the Balkan Mountains, near the center of the country.  It was built in the mid-1970's to commemorate the Bulgarian Social Democratic Party, the predecessor to the the (then-ruling) Bulgarian Communist Party.  Following the fall of the Berlin Wall in late 1989 and the collapse of the Warsaw Pact, the site was abandoned.
